Nevada unemployment rate drops to 6.6 percent in October

CARSON CITY — Nevada’s unemployment rate fell to 6.6 percent in October, the lowest since June 2008. The rate in September was 6.7 percent.

The national unemployment rate for October was 5 percent.

A total of 42,000 jobs have been added in the last year, according to the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Total employment in October was 1,337,300, up from 1,333,800 in September.

Department Economist Bill Anderson said the job market will further expand with seasonal holiday hiring.
