Wynn Resorts says opening of second Macau resort delayed

NEW YORK — Wynn Resorts said Wednesday that the opening of its second resort in Macau has been delayed by three months.

The Wynn Palace Cotai in the gambling enclave in China will open in June of next year instead of March, the company said. Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts Ltd. said its general contractor informed it of the delay, but the company did not offer any details as to why the opening was being pushed back. A Wynn representative was not available for comment.

The Wynn Palace Cotai, costing more than $4 billion, will have a 1,700-room hotel, a casino and a spa. The company opened its first resort in area, the nearby Wynn Macau, in 2006.

Wynn's Macau business is important to the company: It accounted for more nearly 60 percent of its total revenue during the three months ending in September.

Shares of Wynn Resorts fell 25 cents to close at $61.31 Wednesday.
