Man killed in stabbing near Washington, H Street identified

A 38-year-old man who died after being stabbed in the chest Friday evening near Washington Avenue and H Street has been identified as North Las Vegas resident Terrance Eugene Butler, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Metro Police were called about 8:40 p.m. to the 700 block of West Adams Avenue, where officers found Butler lying on the ground, Lt. Kendall Bell said.

Butler was with a group of people when a dispute escalated into a fight between him and another male of unknown age, police said.

He fell to the ground, and the rest of the group left on foot, police said. Butler was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators were searching for the suspect, described as a light-skinned black male wearing dark pants and a white T-shirt, police said.
