CARSON CITY — A draft order of the state Public Utilities Commission says three Las Vegas Strip casino companies must pay a combined $125.6 million to sever ties with NV Energy.

Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts and MGM Resorts International are seeking approval to purchase power from other sources.

The commission will meet Wednesday to vote on the proposed order that would require payments of $23 million from Las Vegas Sands, $15.7 million from Wynn and $86.9 million from MGM.

A news release from the PUC said NV Energy spent money building facilities and acquiring electricity to serve the companies.

“The impact fees ensure that the casinos remain obligated to pay for the portion of NV Energy’s costs that they have caused,” the news release said.

The draft order says the proposed fees are necessary to prevent rate increases for remaining customers.
