Firefighters respond to reports of smoke at Las Vegas airport

Firefighters responded to the Las Vegas airport this morning after people reported smelling smoke, but the odor was coming from a malfunctioning lightbulb assembly and there was no fire, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The assembly was isolated by firefighters and McCarran International Airport personnel, and there was no damage, officials said.

The smell of smoke or burning plastic was reported about 5:30 a.m. at the C Gate near the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint, airport spokeswoman Christine Crews said.

There were no disruptions to flights or other activity at the airport, she said.
