Southern Nevada weather likely to stay warm till Thursday

The warm weather over the weekend is expected to continue until the middle of next week, according to the National Weather Service.

The Las Vegas Valley is falling a bit short of hitting temperature records this weekend, meteorologist Chad Shafer said.

With a high of 93 degrees, Friday was warm, but not as hot as the 97-degree record for Oct. 9, which was the highest reported since 1937, Shafer said. The record high for Saturday is 97 degrees and 95 degrees for Sunday. However, the valley will be about four to five degrees below the record temperatures.

Next week’s weather is expected to stay warm ranging from the low to mid-90s until Thursday, the Weather Service said.

But it may not be hot for long. According to Shafer, there is a trend of wetter and cooler temperatures that is making its way to the valley. The system that affected the valley early last week with rain and cooler temperatures may return Thursday with an increasing chance of rain into the weekend.

Temperatures could cool down to 80 degrees, he said.
