Metro Police rescued a hiker who was injured early today in a fall along a trail near Lake Mead, authorities said.
The accident was reported about 1:15 a.m. after the man was injured jumping from a 6-foot elevation along the Gold Strike Hot Springs Trail, police said. He suffered injuries to his head and leg, police said.
The incident happened about 1.5 to 2 miles from the trail head, which is off U.S. 93, east of the Hoover Dam Lodge.
A woman who was hiking with the injured man reported the incident, police said. It was the second rescue on the trail within about two weeks.
