Scooter rider injured in crash in east valley

Scooter rider injured

A vehicle and scooter collided in the east valley late this morning, sending the scooter rider to the hospital and causing traffic delays, according to Metro Police.

Police were called about 11:50 a.m. to the area near Lamb and Charleston boulevards, where an accident with injury was reported, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The scooter rider was taken to University Medical Center, and Lamb was closed in both directions near the site of the accident as police awaited word on the patient’s condition, Meltzer said.

It was determined the driver suffered what appeared to be nonlife-threatening injuries, and as of about 1:15 p.m., the road was open, she said
