Light rain dampens valley; flash flood watch in effect

Updated Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 | 7:14 p.m.

Light rain fell across the valley this morning, but the heaviest rain isn’t expected until later this weekend, with a flash flood watch in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

A trace amount of rain fell at McCarran International Airport, with up to about 0.1 inch recorded in the Summerlin area, meteorologist Chris Outler.

There is a 60 percent chance of rain Saturday morning that drops to 40 percent by the afternoon, and there's a 70 percent chance Sunday, he said.

The heaviest rainfall is expected Sunday, and up to an inch of rain is forecast to fall through Monday, meteorologist John Adair said

Today’s temperature topped out at 80 degrees, and the low tonight is expected to be 70 degrees, Outler said.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the upper 70s to lower 80s through the end of next week.
