A 34-year-old man has been arrested in a fatal stabbing last month at an east valley homeless camp, according to Metro Police.

Brandon Williams was found by police about 9:15 a.m. Sunday at a house in the 4500 block of Fireside Lane, near East Bonanza Road and North Lamb Boulevard, police said.

He fled, and officers caught him after a short foot pursuit, arresting him on a count of murder in the Sept. 21 death of 51-year-old Michael Humphrey, authorities said.

Humphrey, who was identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, died of a sharp-force neck injury, police said. His city of residence was not available.

Humphrey was found under a bridge at 3900 E. Owens Ave., near North Sandhill Road, and taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Witnesses told police a man had accused Humphrey of stealing from him and that the two argued before the man threw a white tube and piece of a mirror at Humphrey, according to a declaration of warrant for Williams.

The mirror hit Humphrey in the neck, and he cried out, "You cut me," before he died, police said.

Police received a tip Sept. 24 that Williams "was bragging about being involved with the murder," and witnesses shown a photo of Williams identified him as the man involved, according to the report.

Williams was being held without bail at the Clark County jail, according to jail records.

It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
