Man shows up at Wal-Mart with gunshot wound

A man was hospitalized early this morning after showing up at an east valley Wal-Mart with a gunshot wound, according to Metro Police.

Police were called about 1:45 a.m. to a Wal-Mart near North Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, Officer Laura Meltzer said. The man told store employees he had been shot, she said.

He he was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that did not appear life threatening, Meltzer said.

Two minutes before that call, someone reported hearing possible gunshots in the 200 block of Steelhead Lane, at a nearby apartment complex, Meltzer said.

Wal-Mart workers said the man indicated he was shot at the complex, but no evidence of a shooting was located, she said.
