LOGANDALE — Metro Police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old boy who was killed in an ATV accident in the Moapa Valley near Logandale.

The Clark County Coroner's Office determined he died of asphyxia and compression of the chest by the ATV.

Police say Scott J. Hill II of Logandale died in the crash northeast of Las Vegas about 6 p.m. Wednesday near the Bowman Reservoir about three miles southeast of Interstate 15.

Investigators say Hill was riding downhill when he lost control and was thrown from the ATV. They say he then became trapped when the vehicle landed on top of him.

His father went looking for him when he didn't return home. Police say he found the boy and called 911, but he died before paramedics could get him to the hospital.
