Rubio brings campaign back to South Carolina

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio — without television cameras or any other media in tow — has been paying tribute to nine African-American worshippers who were shot to death this year.

Before attending a town hall meeting Monday night in South Carolina, Rubio made a visit to the Charleston church where they were killed.

Republican Sen. Tim Scott disclosed the Florida's senator trip to the church before an audience of about 1,000 people attending the town hall meeting.

Rubio praised the "extraordinary forgiveness" shown by some relatives of the slain at the first court appearance of Dylan Roof, who is accused in the church shootings. Rubio did not talk about his visit to the church site.
