CARSON CITY — Nevada is temporarily closing its tourism office in China because of differences between the foreign contractor and the state, which is seeking a “strong sales and marketing approach.”
The state Board of Examiners today approved $52,062 to cover the cost of closing the office.
State Tourism Director Claudia Vecchio said a new firm will be hired by the end of the fiscal year. In the meantime, the state will participate in a federal program to attract tourists to Nevada.
Nevada’s tourism office in China has operated since 2004.
