Fire

Clark County firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that broke out at a residence in the southeast valley this afternoon, according to the fire department.

First responders were called about 5:25 p.m. to the fire in the 4900 block of East Mesa Vista Avenue, near Hacienda Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, where smoke could be seen coming from a single-story house, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

One person was assessed for injuries due to smoke inhalation but was not taken to the hospital, the department said.

No further information on the patient was available, fire department spokesman Jeff Buchanan said.

The inside of the house and two sheds in the backyard were damaged by the fire, the cause of which has not yet been determined, the department said.

A damage estimate and the number of displaced residents were not immediately available.
