Man, 69, is critical after being hit by SUV in east valley

Pedestrian hit

A 69-year-old man was hit by an SUV while crossing the street near Boulder Station this afternoon, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers were called just before 2:30 p.m. to the 4000 block of Boulder Highway, near Desert Inn Road, where the man was trying to cross from east to west, Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

He was struck in the far left lane by a Mercury SUV, which remained on scene, Stuenkel said.

The man was taken in critical condition to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, she said.

He was not in a crosswalk when he was hit, and officials do not suspect the driver was impaired, she said.

Traffic has slowed as the two left lanes of southbound Boulder Highway are closed, she said.
