Nevada led nation in 1st-quarter private job growth

CARSON CITY — Nevada led the nation in the growth of private jobs during the first three months of the year.

Gov. Brian Sandoval said today that 45,100 jobs were created, for a 4.4 percent increase in jobs during the first quarter of this year. He said it’s “an indication that business and consumers are more confident in our economy.”

The information was supplied by the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and is based on data from businesses covered by the unemployment system.

During the recession, the department said, Nevada last among states in yearly job growth.

The agency said there is a delay in releasing data because of the time it takes to gather the information.
