It’s almost that time of year again — flu season.
The Southern Nevada Health District will begin offering the flu vaccine Monday at all of its public health centers. The vaccine is $41, and the trivalent high-dose vaccine for people age 65 or older is $59.

The Health District encourages anyone 6 months or older to get the flu vaccine, especially people with the following medical conditions: asthma, neurological problems, chronic lung disease, heart disease, obesity and disorders of the blood, endocrine system, kidneys, liver or metabolic processes.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that manufacturers will be providing 171 million to 179 million doses of the flu vaccine this season.
The vaccines will be offered at the following locations:
• Main Public Health Center, 330 S. Valley View Blvd. Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12. Open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Henderson Public Health Center, 520 E. Lake Made Parkway. Open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Mesquite Public Health Center, 830 Hafen Lane. Open 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Health District accepts the following insurance plans with no co-pay: Anthem Networks, Culinary, Cigna, Retiree’s Health Trust, Teacher’s Health Trust, Nevada Check-up (FFS, Amerigroup and HPN), Medicaid (FFS, Amerigroup and HPN), Medicare Part B and Medicare Railroad. Flu vaccines also are covered under the federal Vaccines for Children program.
