Police investigate early morning shooting in central valley

Police are investigating an early Tuesday shooting in the central valley that left a man dead.

Metro received reports of multiple gunshots at 1:04 a.m. in the 1600 block of George Place, near West Lake Mead Boulevard and D Street, police said.

Officers arrived on the scene to find a man with gunshot wounds lying on the ground in front of a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the suspect, or suspects, fled the scene before officers arrived. A black man in his early 20s left the area in a gray SUV following the shooting, police said.

Homicide detectives are at the scene.

This is the 92nd homicide investigated by Metro Police this year.

The identity of the victim and official cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
