New leader of Taxicab Authority is chosen

A man who has been the equal-employment director for Nevada is taking over as administrator of the Taxicab Authority, which regulates the cab industry in Clark County.

Ron Grogan was named to the job Wednesday by Bruce Breslow, director of the state Department of Business and Industry.

Grogan succeeds Charles Harvey, who left in October. Jennifer DeRose, the acting administrator, will return to her job as deputy administrator.

For seven years, Grogan has been the state's equal employment opportunity director. He will earn $114,249 per year in his new role.

Before joining the state, Grogan was vice president of human resources at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Before that, he worked for IBM.

He begins his new job Monday.
