Regulators levy $25,000 fine, revoke licenses of 3 community managers

CARSON CITY — State regulators have imposed a $25,000 fine on a company that manages 21 condominium communities in Las Vegas and revoked the licenses of three community managers.

The Nevada Commission for Common-Interest Communities and Condominium Hotels imposed the penalty on Associated Community Management and three of its managers, accused of hundreds of violations.

The violations included signing checks for charges not approved by the association boards and receiving payment for unspecified services.

Under a stipulation approved Tuesday, two managers will forfeit their management licenses for 10 years and another for five years. The commission also ordered the company to pay $5,000 to cover the cost of the investigation.

“Their actions outside the law were not only harmful to the associations to which these community managers owed a duty of care, but to the entire industry which is designed to serve the best interest of unit owners,” said JD Decker, administrator of the state Real Estate Division.
