Airport traffic in Las Vegas held steady with 4 million passengers in August.

McCarran International Airport released statistics Friday that show about 4 million people flew into and out of Las Vegas last month, a 7.2 percent increase compared to August 2014.

It's the second month in a row that the airport hit the 4-million mark, the peak of the year.

Domestic and international flights increased, by 7.8 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively.

Four of the five busiest carriers at the airport also saw increased traffic.

Southwest Airlines' dominance continues with nearly 1.6 million passengers, while Spirit Airlines with 248,000 passengers lead in growth with 27 percent more passengers compared to last year.

Meanwhile, United Airlines continued to lose market share, serving nearly 6 percent fewer passengers last month.
