Five people displaced by Sunday morning electrical fire

Five people were displaced by a fire early Sunday morning at a northwest valley home, according to the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

Fire crews responded about 5 a.m. to 6640 Silverstream Avenue, near North Rainbow Boulevard and West Washington Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke showing from a one-story house. Fire was coming from the ceiling and wall of a bathroom in the house, officials said. Flames had also spread to the attic.

Fire crews put the fire out in less than five minutes.

Damage was confined to the bathroom, a closet near the bathroom and a small area in the attic, officials said. The property damage is estimated at $20,000.

Fire investigators believe the cause of the fire was electrical, originating in the bathroom. It appeared the residents had been having electrical issues in the home, officials said.

One adult was home asleep at the time of the fire, officials said. He left the house with a pet dog and called 911. Nobody was hurt.
