Man, 77, dead after head-on crash on State Route 160

Updated Tuesday, April 26, 2016 | 4:05 p.m.

A 77-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash on State Route 160 this morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A medical episode might have contributed to the wreck, which also injured two women, Trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

The man was northbound in a Chevrolet Silverado when he veered out of his lane into oncoming traffic, hitting a Hyundai Santa Fe, Buratczuk said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Santa Fe was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center, where she was expected to recover, Buratczuk said. A passenger was flown to UMC and was in stable condition, he said.

The road was closed in both directions in the area, but reopened by about 2 p.m., according to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
