Man crashes car in Henderson after medical episode

An elderly man suffered a medical episode and crashed his car into a median Friday morning in Henderson.

At about 11:45 a.m., a 79-year-old man was driving a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria northbound on North Major Avenue at Westminster Way near Burkholder Boulevard when his car struck a center median, Henderson police said.

The car then hit a roadway sign and came to a rest against a southbound curb, police said.

Bystanders pulled the man out of the car, who was unresponsive, and performed CPR on him before paramedics responded to the scene.

The man was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospitals' Rosa de Lima campus, where he was pronounced dead.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity and cause of the death after his kin has been notified.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision, police said. The roadway was closed for about two hours.
