Trial date set in Vegas liquor store robbery slaying case

A Nevada state court judge has set an August 2017 trial date for the three men accused in the April robbery-shooting death of a liquor store clerk in Las Vegas.

Defense attorneys lost a bid Thursday to have some charges dismissed.

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for two of the defendants: 21-year-old Lee Dominic Sykes and 22-year-old Ray Charles Brown. They each have prior felony convictions.

Sykes' 22-year-old brother, Lee Murray Sykes, also is charged in the April 18 robbery-slaying of Matthew Christensen.

All three men have pleaded not guilty to murder, robbery, conspiracy, kidnapping, burglary, coercion and assault with a deadly weapon.

Parts of the Lee's Liquor Store robbery were captured on security video, including images of Christiansen surrendering with his hands raised before he was shot.
