NBA Commissioner David Stern speaks to the press at Encore Las Vegas, Thursday July 19, 2012.

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern will be a featured speaker at the American Gaming Association’s Global Gaming Expo next month in Las Vegas.

Stern, long a proponent of legal and regulated sports gambling, will speak at the world’s largest casino-gaming conference Sept. 29 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.

“I’m with Commissioner Silver,” Stern said in October 2015, echoing NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s call for legalized sports gambling nationwide. “There should be federal legislation that says, ‘Let’s go all the way’ and have betting on sports. It’s OK. It’s going to be properly regulated.”

During the convention, Stern will talk with AGA President and CEO Geoff Freeman about the future of sports betting and it’s impact on professional sports.

Other speakers at the four-day event are Frances Townsend, former Homeland Security Advisor to President George W. Bush, National Indian Gaming Association Chairman Earnest L. Stevens Jr. and tech expert Scot Klososky.
