NRA political arm airing ad against Clinton in Nevada

The National Rifle Association’s political arm launched a $3 million ad buy in Nevada today attacking Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over the gun control issue.

The 30-second spot attempts to paint Clinton as “out of touch” — describing her as one of the wealthiest women in politics who “tours” the world on private jets. It also states that though Clinton has been “protected by armed guards for 30 years,” she “doesn’t believe in your right to keep a gun at home for self-defense.”

The ad is airing on national cable stations as well as local broadcast stations in Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

Throughout the campaign cycle, Clinton has called for more stringent gun control measures, such as comprehensive background checks and closing loopholes on gun sales.

Nevadans will have a chance to weigh in on gun control in November by voting on Question 1, which, if approved, would require all gun sales and transfers to go through a licensed firearms dealer for a background check. The NRA is funding opposition to the ballot measure here.
