Bishop Gorman vs. Chandler 2

Bishop Gorman High School’s Biaggio Ali-Walsh (7) breaks away and scores on a 55-yard touchdown run during a game against Chandler (Ariz.) High School at Bishop Gorman Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. Bishop Gorman beat Chandler 35-14.

Bishop Gorman High senior running back Biaggio Ali-Walsh announced his verbal commitment to Cal on Twitter this afternoon.

Ali-Walsh, the grandson of boxing great Muhammad Ali, is the reigning Gatorade state player of the year. He rushed for 2,451 yards and 33 touchdowns last fall to help the Gaels win a second national championship.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Ali-Walsh, who is considered a three-star recruit by rivals.com, also had offers from Arizona, Louisville, UNLV and others. He's typically one of the fastest players on the field with a 4.38-second time in the 40-yard dash.

He's the fourth from Gorman's talented class of 2017 to make a verbal commitment. Quarterback Tate Martell and defensive lineman Haskell Garrett are each committed to Ohio State, and linebacker Farrell Hester is committed to UNLV.

He's also a model. For more, check out this profile on Ali-Walsh in our news magazine, The Sunday.
