A child died from injuries sustained in a pit bull attack in the far east valley Wednesday afternoon, according to Metro Police.
First responders were called about 3:30 p.m. to the 6000 block of Duck Hill Springs, near Desert Inn Road, Metro Lt. Timothy Hatchett said.
The child, whose age and gender weren't immediately available, was visiting a friend's house when the family dog exited the house and attacked, Hatchett said. The child was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and died there.
Metro detectives remained on scene Wednesday night and animal control took custody of the dog, Hatchett said.
