Man arrested in double slaying outside tobacco shop

Homicide detectives have made an arrest in a double slaying outside an east valley tobacco shop last year, according to Metro Police.

James Rachal, 32, was recently arrested in California on unrelated charges and on Wednesday, he was transferred to Las Vegas on murder warrants, police said.

Officers were called about 12:20 p.m. on Sept. 11 to the shooting outside Bargain Smokes in the 5500 block of Boulder Highway, police said.

Aaron Anderson, 25, Alton Chucky Bullard Jr., 32, and third man were standing in front of the shop when Rachal allegedly approached the group firing rounds, killing Anderson and Bullard, police said. The third man wasn’t wounded.

Rachal and the men exchanged words before the shooting, police said. Rachal then left and returned with a gun, police said.

Anderson died at the scene, and Bullard died later at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

Rachal was booked at the Clark County Detention Center two counts of murder and a count of conspiracy to commit murder, officials said.
