The motorcyclist arrested this morning in the southwest valley after an armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant has been identified as the son of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Steve Ross, according to officials.

Officers responded about 7 a.m. to reports of a robbery at the Burger King at 3458 S. Rainbow Blvd., police said. The suspect, 27-year-old Shane Ross, was located about 7:40 a.m. in the 4000 block of South Rainbow Boulevard, where he was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Officials said he could be responsible for a series of similar armed-robberies this week.

Ross was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on one count each of robbery with a deadly weapon and burglary while in possession of a gun, jail logs show. Bail was set at $60,000 and he’s scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning.

“Our entire family is stunned and devastated at this development,” the Ross family issued in a statement. “Shane has battled addiction problems for sometime and may still be struggling with those demons. We are encouraging him to fully cooperate with police to help determine exactly what has taken place.”
