A man visiting from Italy who was ejected from a vehicle in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 95 has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Also according to the Highway Patrol:
Four Italian tourists were southbound in a 2016 Ford Explorer near Elkhorn Road, south of Durango Drive, about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 11 when the vehicle drifted onto the left shoulder and struck a concrete traffic barrier head-on under the Elkhorn overpass.
A backseat passenger was ejected and was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. The man, 30-year-old Marco Romoli of Firenze, Italy, was pronounced dead eight days later.
The driver and two other passengers were taken to University Medical Center non-life-threatening injuries.
It’s unknown why the vehicle drifted; speed might have been a factor in the crash.
