Two people died in a wrong-way traffic wreck in the north Las Vegas Valley Monday night, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Maria Dennis, 48, of Las Vegas, was eastbound on the 215 Beltway, near Aliante Parkway, at 5:41 p.m. when she abandoned the lanes, overcorrected and went into the wrong-way lanes, NHP said.

Also according to NHP:

The 1994 Buick Regal Dennis was driving hit a 1997 Lexus sedan head-on, causing it to overturn and kill its driver, Tracy Michael Simpson, a 38-year-old Las Vegan.

Dennis died at University Medical Center.

Two people in another vehicle that hit the Regal after the crash were also taken to University Medical Center with injuries not deemed life-threatening.
