The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified a man shot and killed Thursday near Rainbow Boulevard and Westcliff Drive.

Steven Wayne Spurlin, 27, of Las Vegas was fatally wounded as he jumped out of a car with his hands up, according to Metro Police.

Also according to police:

Spurlin was shot about 12:30 p.m. at a parking lot between a gas station and a construction site on the 100 block of Rainbow.

He had parked his car and went into the backseat of a Nissan Altima or Toyota sedan. An altercation broke out, and witnesses reported hearing gunshots. The car moved forward toward the gas station, and Spurlin got out of the car with his hands up and was shot at again.

He died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, coroner's office staff said Saturday.

The suspected shooter was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s. He stands about 6-foot-1 with a think build and dark hair.

The car, described as being gray and having four doors, might have a broken window resulting from the shooting.
