A suspicious liquid discovered today in a room at the Luxor prompted the evacuation of three floors of the Strip casino-hotel but didn’t turn out to be anything hazardous, authorities said.

Metro Police Officer Jesse Roybal said he could not discuss what was found.

No injuries were reported after firefighters were summoned to the Luxor and the 27th, 28th and 29th floors of the 30-story pyramid-shaped tower were evacuated, Deputy Clark County Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said.

Hotel spokeswoman Yvette Monet said a guest room attendant found the substance in an unoccupied room after a guest checked out and notified hotel officials.

Police were called about 11:10 a.m., Officer Laura Meltzer said. Firefighters were summoned at 11:49 a.m., Buchanan said.

Monet said about 54 guests were asked to evacuate.

Other than the casino’s valet area being blocked for emergency vehicles, business inside the casino appeared uninterrupted.

The Luxor has about 4,400 rooms in its dark glass-clad pyramid and two conventional-style hotel towers. It is one of several Las Vegas Strip properties owned by MGM Resorts International.

Las Vegas Sun reporter Ricardo Torres and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
