A woman was taken to the hospital this morning with smoke inhalation after a house fire northwest of downtown, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.

The fire was reported about 9 a.m. in the 900 block of Pyramid Drive, near Washington Avenue and Valley View Boulevard. The woman was pulled by bystanders from the backyard and taken to University Medical Center, officials said.

Crews reported heavy flames and smoke but had the blaze under control by about 9:30 a.m., officials said.

The cause is under investigation, but the fire might have been related to a candle, officials said. Damage was estimated at $120,000.
