If you’ve been hankering for a used Ford Crown Victoria, you’re in luck: At least 50 will be available for auction later this month in Clark County.

The former police cars will go up for sale along with several other vehicles and a collection of miscellaneous items ranging from filing cabinets to a forklift in the year’s first government-surplus auction, scheduled to get underway at 8 a.m. Feb. 27. If you want an in-person glimpse, make your way to the auction site, 4320 Stephanie St., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Feb. 24 through Feb. 26 for a preview and pre-registration.

“Our auctions are very popular with the public,” David Johnson, manager of the county’s automotive services division, said in a statement. “The preview period is a great opportunity to pre-register as a bidder and check out many of the items that will be sold. We’ll even let you sit in the vehicles and start them up, which is something we can’t do on auction day.”

The county contracts with TNT Auction to manage the sales and operate online catalog listings leading up to the auction. Here’s a peek at what’s hitting the auction block this time:

• Folding tables

• Metal filing cabinets

• Wooden desks

• Chairs

• Televisions

• Cash registers

• Yamaha carts

• Hobart dishwasher

• Drafting table and trash can

• Air-conditioning unit

• Computers, monitors and printers

• Sanyo camera

• 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid with 58,577 miles

• 2006 Ford Expedition with 104,990 miles

• 2011 Dodge 2500 HD Pickup with 89,388 miles

• JCB 930 Forklift

The TNT Auction catalog for vehicles and heavy equipment included 192 listings as of Monday afternoon. Items from McCarran International Airport’s lost and found will be featured in the auction but aren’t available for preview.

Last year, auctions raised $2.6 million for Clark County agencies, with each one drawing about 1,848 bidders. Clark County plans to hold additional auctions on May 14 and Nov. 10 this year.

Potential bidders, take note. Here’s what you need to know beforehand:

• To participate in the live auction for vehicles or miscellaneous items, it's necessary to register as a bidder on site at the TNT auction trailer. There is no cost to register, but bidders will need to present a valid ID.

• If you win a bid at the auction, payment — cash, cashier’s checks, credit cards, debit cards, traveler’s checks or money orders — is due that day.

• You can participate in the vehicle auction online if you register in advance on TNT Auction’s website. The online auction occurs simultaneously with the on-site vehicle auction.

• Miscellaneous items will be sold during a separate, on-site only auction conducted during the same time as the vehicle auction.
