Four displaced by Sunday morning apartment fire

A fire at an east valley apartment complex Sunday morning displaced four people and caused about $20,000 in damage, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters responded about 6:30 a.m. to the La Fiesta Apartments, 1492 N. Lamb Boulevard, near East Owens Avenue, where a blaze was coming from a bedroom, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming out of a window on the top floor of a two-story apartment. Firefighters were able to put the fire out within a few minutes and prevent it from spreading.

The rest of the apartment had some heat and water damage, Szymanski said. A vacant apartment below also had minor water damage.

The American Red Cross is assisting two adults and two children who were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
