Lawsuit: Video shows police attacked man at Hard Rock Hotel

A Southern California man is suing Las Vegas police, alleging excessive force by officers who he says punched, beat and choked him with a baton during a 2014 reggae concert at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Attorney Cal Potter says security video of the arrest of Ian Tuuamalemalo (too-ah-Mah-lay-MAH'-loh) shows what Potter calls "an organized riot on the part of the police."

Metro Police Officer Larry Hadfield declined to comment. He says the department doesn't speak publicly about pending litigation.

Records show misdemeanor property destruction and resisting an officer charges against Tuuamalemalo were dismissed in October 2014.

His lawsuit, filed Jan. 25 in Clark County District Court, seeks unspecified damages of more than $30,000. It also claims assault, battery and a violation of Tuuamalemalo's civil rights.

It was first reported by KLAS-TV in Las Vegas.
