Police: No foul play in woman’s deadly fall at D Las Vegas

Updated Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 | 2:15 p.m.

There is no foul play suspected in the death of a woman whose body was found early Sunday in a laundry chute at the D Las Vegas. She’d fallen from the hotel’s 18th floor to the third floor, according to Metro Police.

Kalli Medina-Brown, who was in town from Citrus Heights, Calif., to celebrate her 27th birthday with her husband, was found about 2:40 a.m. The Clark County Coroner's office has not determined her cause of death, staff said Tuesday; a toxicology report is pending.

According to Metro Police:

Medina-Brown's grandfather, Tony Fratis, told KTNV-TV that police told family members security video showed Medina-Brown walking away from her husband, Weslee Brown, and toward a hotel housekeeping closet.

Efforts by The Associated Press to reach Fratis and Brown weren't successful.

Fratis told KTNV he hasn't spoken with Brown, but he thought Brown was still in Las Vegas cooperating with the investigation.

The 34-story D Las Vegas has nearly 640 rooms. A hotel spokeswoman issued a statement calling the death unfortunate but declined to comment about the investigation. She said the hotel was cooperating with authorities.

The Associated Press and Sun reporter Ricardo Torres contributed to this report.
