Woman, 56, hit by SUV, killed while crossing street

A 56-year-old Las Vegas woman was hit by an SUV and killed Sunday night as she crossed Durango Drive outside of a marked crosswalk, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 9:20 p.m. south of Edna Avenue, between Sahara Avenue and Desert Inn Road. The woman, identified today by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Sherri Green, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver remained at the scene, police said. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

It was the first traffic-related fatality of the new year in Metro’s jurisdiction.
