Authorities have arrested a suspect in the slaying of a man last month at an apartment complex east of downtown Las Vegas.

Joshua Simon, 24, was arrested without incident Wednesday and faces counts of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, according to Metro Police.

Police were dispatched about 4:30 p.m. Dec. 23 to the apartment complex in the 3800 block of East Charleston Boulevard, where they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen, police said.

He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified him as Gary Patrick Kaname, 45, of Las Vegas.

An investigation determined Kaname might have had an argument with another man before the shooting, police said.

Simon was taken into custody by Metro’s Criminal Apprehension Team, a task force of detectives from Metro, the Henderson Police Department and the FBI.
