Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt has endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

Laxalt, a Republican, announced his endorsement this morning on the Heidi Harris Show on KXNT 840-AM, calling Cruz “the conservative candidate that we need.”

“This is what conservatives in Nevada right now are hungry for, a constitutional conservative that’s going to protect our rights, give Nevada more liberty, protect us from the federal government, give the economy and our families the ability to grow and reach the American dream,” Laxalt said in a video posted to Cruz’s YouTube channel today. “Ted Cruz will be that conservative leader and will take our party in that direction that we need to go.”

Laxalt added that Cruz will fight “tooth and nail” to undo President Barack Obama’s executive actions.

In January last year, Laxalt joined a multistate coalition in suing over the president’s executive actions on immigration. Almost half of undocumented immigrants in Clark County qualify for deportation relief under the president’s deferral programs.

Cruz was one of a handful of Republican presidential hopefuls who attended Laxalt’s annual Basque Fry at his Gardnerville Ranch in August.
