Former Judge Mike Fondi of Carson City dies at 78

CARSON CITY — Retired District Court Judge Mike Fondi of Carson City died today after a long illness. He was 78 years old.

Fondi had a lengthy career in public service. He was a judge from 1977 to 2000, when he retired.

In 1963, Gov. Grant Sawyer named Fondi his legal assistant, and when Sawyer left office, Fondi went to work for the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

He was elected district attorney in 1970 and served to 1977, when he became a judge. He later worked with a private law firm.
