Interstate 15 reopened after crash near Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Updated Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 | 1:32 p.m.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway were temporarily shut down today after a crash involving a car and two semitractors, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The trucks were headed north on the two-lane highway about 10 a.m. when a BMW ran into the back of one of them, causing the big rigs to collide, Trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

The car overturned and landed on its roof on the right shoulder, Buratczuk said. The driver was taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, he said.

Nobody else was injured, he said.

The road was closed until about 1 p.m.
