A man who died after crashing into a semitractor-trailer in the east valley has been identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Billie Joe Jenkins, 69, of Las Vegas died June 27 from multiple injuries sustained in the crash; his death was ruled an accident.

About 8:20 a.m., Jenkins was driving a 2014 Nissan Versa east on Lake Mead Boulevard approaching Mount Hood Street when he failed to stop and crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was stopped at a red light.

Jenkins was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died, Metro Police said.
