An 18-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday morning after losing control of the motorcycle he was on and hitting an SUV in the southwest valley, according to Metro Police.

The wreck was reported about 11:20 a.m. on Flamingo Road, east of the Durango Drive intersection, police said.

The cyclist on a 2001 Honda CBR motorcycle was speeding eastbound on Flamingo when he hit the front brakes of the bike, causing it to turn on its side, throwing him into a 2007 GMC Yukon, police said.
