Head of Department of Conservation and Natural Resources retiring

CARSON CITY — Leo Drozdoff, director of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, is retiring after more than 25 years in government service.

Drozdoff has been director since 2009 and will retire on Sept. 1. Gov. Brian Sandoval has not named a replacement.

He is also chairman of the Public Employees’ Benefit Program, which provides health insurance to state workers, and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Low-level Radioactive Waste Board and the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum.
