Today’s forecast high of 112 degrees is just shy of a 1937 record of 114 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 9:30 a.m., the temperature had already climbed to 101 degrees, meteorologist Chris Outler said. And it could potentially surpass the forecasted high to tie the record, he said.
Temperatures will drop slightly over the weekend and into early next week, Outler said.
High temperatures are expected to be 111 degrees Saturday, 110 on Sunday and 109 on Monday, with lows in the upper 80s.
